Choose an escorted or unescorted tour

Want a hassle-free way of touring Ireland, without worrying about the driving? Then you have 2 possible options. Option 1: An Unescorted Tour; you could choose to travel unescorted by Irish rail or coach to various major towns and cities in Ireland, stay for a few nights and take day bus tours to see the major sites and attractions from there. Then move to the next town or city of interest and so on. Let us give a quick sample itinerary to show you.

Sample route

Assuming a Dublin airport arrival, buses are available into the city centre where you could spend your first night. Tour Dublin by foot or take one of the scenic hop-on hop-off buses and explore all the wonderful sites. On Day 2 travel west to Galway by Irish rail or coach ( there are several daily departures by either mode of travel)Arrive in Galway and check into hotel or bed & breakfast of your choice. Take a guided walking tour of the city. On Day 3 you are spoiled for choice of Day tours; you can choose a day trip to the spectacular Aran Islands, or maybe a day tour of Connemara or a day tour to the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren. The choice is yours and can be arranged that morning so you can wait to check the weather forecast! Most day tour companies will pick you up at your hotel or B&B and drop you back in the evening. Depending on how long you choose to stay in Galway, you can then for example move onto Limerick or Cork and take day tours from your base there to places like the Ring of Kerry, the Beara Peninsula and others before returning by rail or coach to Dublin. The great advantage to this Irish touring option is the freedom: where to eat, which tour to take and when to take it and given our very unpredictable Irish weather, it is a popular option.
